Perfume does not solve farm odour. Most durable reductions come from keeping housing dry and clean, preventing anaerobic decomposition, matching feed to need, containing storage and applying manure responsibly.

- Choose a site with adequate legal setbacks and consider prevailing winds, terrain and future neighbours.
- Repair leaking drinkers and pipes immediately.
- Maintain ventilation that removes moisture and gases without creating harmful draughts.
- Remove wet bedding, spilled feed, mortalities and stagnant water promptly.
- Clean feed and manure residues from drains, loading areas and equipment.
- Cover suitable liquid stores; consider digestion, solids separation, biofilters or engineered treatment at larger scale.
- Keep compost aerobic through correct carbon, moisture, porosity and turning.
- Time land application for suitable weather; use low-emission placement or timely incorporation where agronomically and legally appropriate.
Find the actual source
Walk the site safely at different times and record source, wind, weather and strength. Check housing, wet litter, feed stores, drains, carcass areas, lagoons, compost and land application separately. Complaints often reveal a specific repeated operation rather than the whole farm.
